Javier de Winthuysen was a modernist artist, dedicated to the environmental practice of recording what he saw in nature at his native province of Seville during the first part of his life, and the rest of Spain during his mature years.
Winthuysen recorded picturesque localities and was a pioneer in the field of landscape picturesque site conservation. His autobiography testifies a very important part of Spanish History, the end of the XIX century and beginning of the XX, when the good intentions of the Republican Government ended in failure.
Winthuysen visited Tangier in 1903. This photograph is part of the documentation in his memoirs.
